A Day in the Life of a Resident
A resident starts their day waking up at the time they choose. The plan of care is designed around resident choices and past at home routines. One resident may get up at 6am, another resident 10am. Medications and morning cares are scheduled around their sleep history and preference.

The level of assistance is based upon the needs of the resident identified through nursing assessments. We encourage each resident to do as much as they can safely, and staff assist with the rest. For example, a resident may be able to wash their own face and upper body, and staff assist only with lower body, or socks and shoes. Sustaining as much independence as possible is very important to maintain physical ability and promote a sense of wellbeing.
A healthy, made to order breakfast is prepared for the resident when they make their way down to the dining area, either independently, or with a staff escort. Right after breakfast, residents engage in daily exercises followed by a variety of activities that are offered throughout the day.Independent puzzle tables are set up around the community for those who enjoy a quieter activity.
Lunch, afternoon snack, and Dinner provide a variety of foods prepared to meet nutritional needs and accommodate specialized diets. Alternate choices are offered if a resident chooses not to eat the planned meal. Coffee, Milk, Juice and flavored water are available with all meals and a hydration program is in place to encourage fluid intake.
To promote a sense of purpose and contribution to the community, residents are encouraged to work side by side with our care staff to help fold laundry, set up tables for meals or crafts, and assist with simple meal preparation such as peeling potatoes! The day to day household chores are an important way to preserve self-worth and are an essential part of the plan of care!
At the end of the day, residents can unwind watching an old movie in our Community room equipped with comfortable furniture and lift chairs. Cozy blankets and stuffed animals are always available for resident use. When the resident chooses to go to bed, our staff are available to assist.
An RN is on sight Monday through Friday and available by phone after hours and on week-ends to address any medical needs or concerns that a resident may have. Elysian partners with other providers to bring in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Skilled Nursing, Hospice, Podiatry, Lab and Physician Services.
Community outings are planned for our residents during the spring, summer and fall. Entertainment, volunteer groups and church communities are brought in to keep our residents involved in the community.

We provide our residents with a full day of activities to keep them active and engaged in conversations with our staff and other residents. Below is a list with brief descriptions of some of the daily activities our residents may participate in along with a monthly calendar showcasing all events this month.
Daily Weather
Daily weather is a time for gather and chat about what the day may look like. We chat about the MPH of the wind and where is it coming from. We talk about the sunrise and set time. How much day light we lose in the am and in the pm. And we talk about the air quality. Some like to share a story about growing up “I remember when it was -30 and…” So this brings opportunity to reminisce.
Morning Stretch
We gather in the owl room and stretch for 20 minutes. We cover neck, shoulder, wrists, fingers, torso, hips and ankles. A head to toe stretch to keep our residents moving.

Men and women enjoy having their nails cleaned, cut and filed. For the ladies, we have a huge selection of color.
